Why The “Best of the Best” Choose The Gibson Les Paul Custom Guitar (This Proves It!)

19th June

The Les Paul Custom Electric Guitar, introduced in 1954, has always represented the highest level of elegance and beauty in the guitar world.  Having been played by famous guitarists such as Jimmy Page, of “Led Zeppelin”, Marc Bolan of “T-Rex”, Joe Walsh, of the “James Gang”, Keith Richards and Mick Taylor, of “The Rolling Stones”, Ron Wood of “The Faces”, Billy Gibbons, of “ZZTop”, Joe Perry, of “Aerosmith”, Angus Young, of “AC/DC”, and Eric Clapton, the Les Paul Custom has been recognized around the world for its quality and uniqueness since the day of its conception.

In 1945, Les Paul, jazz guitarist and inventor, brought his concept for a solid-body electric guitar to Gibson, already a leading guitar company of the time. Not recognizing the genius behind the Les Paul Custom Electric Guitar, they turned him down and called the prototype a “broom-stick with a pickup on it”.

Seven years later, with the growing popularity of the Fender Telecaster, Gibson was compelled to introduce the Les Paul as its first solid-body guitar, most likely the best move the company has ever made.

Produced after World War II, the Gibson Les Paul was one of the earliest commercially feasible solid-body electric guitars on the market. When Gibson released the Les Paul Custom in 1954 it sold for $325.00, today these guitars go for thousands of dollars.

The Les Paul Custom was the first Gibson to feature the “tune-o-matic” bridge, which is now standard in Gibson electric guitars. The “tune-o-matic” bridge, with individually adjustable string saddles, allowed for fine-tuning of the string lengths to guarantee precise intonation of the fretted notes along the whole string. In addition, The Les Paul Custom has a deep, mellow rhythmic sound with a piercing high lead voice, which produces a “fatter” sound than most other guitars, perfect for filling a crowded venue with pitch-perfect sound. Not high-tech by any means, the Les Paul Custom is valued for its solid, dependable quality, made in the USA.

The Les Paul Custom Electric Guitar is the finest of the Les Paul line.  Known to be a luxury model, the standard design features a glossy black paint job over the solid mahogany body and hard maple top. Its appearance is unmatched in the guitar world, with a wide variety of models to match the individuality of every talent who picks one up. Since its release in 1954, the Les Paul Custom Electric Guitar has managed to evolve, keeping up with the times and the changing world of music.

One thing is definitely certain, no matter the changes and innovations that the world of guitars will see in the future, the Les Paul’s Custom Electric Guitar will always remain in the foremost position as guitar of choice for the world’s greatest guitarists. The black beauty, so often seen in the hands and heard on the albums of legendary rock guitarists, boasts qualities that leave all other guitars in the dust, making it the guitar of choice for real guitarists.

“Here is the ultimate in a solid body guitar … ‘The Fretless Wonder’ … The Incomparable Les Paul Custom Guitar,” — Gibson catalog, circa mid-1950s

STRUM THESE STRINGS! (CLICK HERE)

Once in a very long while a guitar comes out that captures the heart and imagination of those that have come to relish it. Today’s Les Paul Custom is based on the model from the mid-1950s, but with several modern distinctions. The body is crafted with a hand-carved maple top, which is fitted to a body made from a solid piece of mahogany with strategically routed holes to lessen the weight of the guitar, resulting in a Les Paul with enhanced acoustic qualities and improved resonance. The 24 ¾-inch scale length neck is also made from one solid piece of mahogany then topped by a 22-fret ebony fingerboard outfitted with figured acrylic block inlays and given Gibson’s traditional rounded profile. The pickups are Gibson’s 490R in the neck position, which offers the tonal characteristics of the original PAFs, and the 498T in the bridge position, which swaps the 490R’s Alnico II magnet for an Alnico V, thus making it slightly hotter with emphasis on mid-ranges and highs. Other appointments include Gibson’s legendary Nashville Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, metal tulip tuners, multi-ply white and black binding on both the top and back, gold hardware and a 1 11/16” nut width. The Les Paul Custom is available in Antique White, Ebony, Heritage Cherry Sun Burst, Wine Red and Silver Burst, and each guitar comes with the standard Gibson Custom case, custom care kit and certificate of authenticity. Enjoy this amazing guitar!

Gibson Les Paul Supreme vs Gibson Les Paul Custom?

5th March

Are they both custom made? i know supremes are chambered and Customs are just solid guitar
but which guitar is higher end?

I have never played either guitar but have you gone to the Gibson website?? They do have a consumer question dept on there…check that out! If you have a Music store where you live, ask them to find out for you!

question about gibson guitars final?

20th February

im srry that i cannot keep my words. im told by my parents that i can get a les paul so what should i go for:
Gibson Les Paul Supreme
Gibson Custom SG Standard Reissue VOS
i play alternative/pop rock/ modern Punk rock/Led Zepplin stuff

my suggestion to you is to go somewhere like guitar center and look at them in person and see which one is going to be best suited for what you want to play. also go with the one that feels the best to you. i have two epiphone guitars (gibson) one is a 1958 corina flying v reissue sp ed, and a explorer that i bought early 80’s. i love both of them because they fit my hand great. just find your best fit and you’ll be great. lots of luck!
EDIT: by the way gibson had the les paul and the sg guitars also under their epiphone name. might save you some cash. thought you might want to know. basically the same lower cost. again best of luck and have fun. rock on

Which guitar i should get? SG or Les Paul THE LAST QUESTION?

I would get the LP .. It’s probably the best guitar in the world. And if you look at some alternative/pop rock/ modern Punk rock/ Led Zeppelin stuff bands you’ll see that most of them use LPs.. Rock On !

How Much Is A Gibson Les Paul Custom (My Own Finish)?

5th November

I already own my second guitar that I just got like last month.
It is a Gibson Les Paul Studio Silverburst ($1300). my mom got me it for my 15th birthday… but now I want to sell it for the same price I bought it for. it is in perfect condition. extremely extremely minor dents on the upper back of the neck because from laying it against my table. it does not effect the tone or the playing of using the guitar. and it is very clean and greatly tuned with new DR Silverstar Coated Standard Strings. So now I don’t exactly like the finish… and I want to be original and different from others. And I made my own finish design:

http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh291/AdeptRougeHaseo/AnotherDreamGuitar.jpg

I’m wanting a custom Gibson Les Paul (studio if so?) with the EXACT same hardware and EVERYTHING as the Original guitar I own. JUST A DIFFERENT FINISH I want on it. so, How much do you think it would cost?

No Criticizing me. or calling me a spoiled brat and ungrateful and not knowing how mean I am to my Silverburst. -.-

You want an expensive cat and an expensive guitar? Why don’t you stick with the guitar….cats deserve good owners.

Maybe try hiding you questions from public view.

Gibson or fender? Please help?

25th October

hey guys. i am thinking of getting a new guitar. yeah i noe fender is known for their SC sound and gibson for that ballsy sound, and they are two completely different sound… but I am using that guitar for high gain purpose so i am gonna put a humbucker no matter what. so it doesn’t really matter. I am looking at a fender strat or a gibson les paul (custom/studio). I don’t mind the thick neck or the frets access. So the strat or the les paul? Please give me some opinions. thankss

fender if you want less expensive but i’d personally get a Gibson sg

Where can I find a neck for my guitar that says Gibson Les Paul?

11th October

I have a silvertone knock-off and I want people to think I have a Les Paul Custom.

They’re going to know its not a real Les Paul because necks for Les Paul’s are set necks not bolt on. So when they see you have a bolt on Les Paul neck its going to give it all away.

can someone tell me where (internet, preferably) i can get LES PAUL EPIPHONE customized pickguards(3 pick ups)?

3rd October

Hey… i’m looking fer customized pickguards fer a new guitar i’m plannin on buying. Like the pickguards you wouldn’t normally find on an LP Custom. Like pickguards with pics on them, designs, and whatnot.

More likely it will be an EPIPHONE LES PAUL CUSTOM (Black Beauty 3)… and fer those of you who know, it comes with THREE pick ups.

I’ve looked everywhere fer pickguards that will match just right. but all i find are other brands and they all have 2 pick ups anyway.

Keep in mind that a GIBSON LP CUSTOM pickguard WILL NOT match an EPIPHONE LP CUSTOM pickguard. I need the pickguard that matches EXACTLY.

here is a pic of the guitar i’m plannin on gettin. She’s a beaut’: http://www.guitarcenter.com/item/expandedimage.aspx?t=4&img=Epiphone/567193jpg.jpg

anyone know a good website? or even a walk-in shop?

any help appreciated. Thanks.

A beaut indeed. Les Paul’s are and always will be my favourite guitar [ i have one = D ]

Try ordering one, contact the epiphone website or a local music store, and see what they can do. I dont know how ‘right’ it may be seeing as i just keep the original pick gards.

Which electric guitar shoud I get?

27th September

I am just a beginner, so it has to be easy to play. but here’s the thing, i dont like the look of the newer guitars, like the fender starcaster which is what i have now, I love the vintage look. But I cannot afford any of them, there like $1,000+ even on eBay (such as this one that I really like http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-1973-GIBSON-LES-PAUL-CUSTOM-ELECTRIC-GUITAR_W0QQitemZ290246833640QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item290246833640)
Does anyone know where I can get a guitar like this but for under $300? I know I probably wont be able to get an original for this cheap, but maybe a remake that has that vintage look and good sound quality?

Thank you :D
ok. Get an ibanez. Even the cheap ones sound amazing. You could pick up a hollow body ibanez for about 300 that looks like one of the old vintage guitars. Check out the ibanez website.

What i dont get, is why you would want a 300$ guitar if u hav a strat??? the sound is way more important than the look.
