Les Paul Collector Tom Wittrock tells the wonderful story how he bought his first Burst, a 1960 Gibson Les Paul Standard, for $2000. Everybody called him “the crazy guy who paid $2000 for a used guitar”! In 1972 he met with Billy Gibbons and got infected by the Vintage “Burst” virus. Due to their beautiful sunburst finish, these rare guitars are referred to as “Bursts”. Prices for these Gibson Les Pauls exceed $ 500.000 Enjoy the beauty of “Curly” in close-up shots. Gibson Les Paul 59 reissue Bare Knuckle Pickups

Great guitar, great pickups, budget bedroom amp.. decent clean tone. Cheers to Tim at Bare Knuckle for my Pups! Update - lots of people are asking my why I use a Marshall MGFX amp, well I only used it in this clip because I had just sold my BluesBreaker and had not got my Fender yet.. I wanted a bedroom amp really cheap and this little Marshall did the job..I will say that I have taken the back off so the speaker can shift air better…

Update May 2009: Gregor Hilden now owns this Les Paul and I gave the amp to my mate

1960 Gibson Les Paul 01013 Phil X

This ex-celebrity owned forty-nine year old Les Paul Standard weighs 9.30 lbs. and has a fat nut width of 1 11/16 inches and a standard Gibson scale length of 24 3/4 inches. Solid mahogany body with a ‘nicely-flamed solid carved maple top. One-piece mahogany neck with a typically thin early ‘60 profile. Brazilian rosewood fretboard with 22 medium jumbo frets. Inlaid pearl trapezoid position markers. Two PAF humbucker pickups with outputs of 7.60k and 9.14k. Original Gibson four-latch brown hardshell case with pink plush lining (8.50). The top has uniformly faded-out to a lovely lemon color and is strikingly unique with the grain being a combination of quarter and flat sawn and a distinctive ‘eye’ on the left-side, yet still having that characteristic fine wavy interlocking figuring across the face. A 100% original example. Ex Howard Leese of Heart and Bad Company.
